Belmar beach was founded in 1872. Originally, it was named Ocean Beach but in 1889, it was renamed Belmar. In French, Belmar means “Beautiful Sea.” Belmar is one of the most commercial beaches on the New Jersey shore and hosts a large number of single tourists and families throughout the summer. It has a large marina and great fishing and boating facilities.
